UK Trip 2023: Chapter Twelve>Glasgow

By Michael Downing

Glasgow

We only had about four hours for Glasgow. Headed from Manchester to Oban, we took the Glasgow exit and found a parking garage. Not much time, but we’ll find the good stuff.

Glasgow was beautiful. We popped out of the mall at the top of the hill where we parked and were met with an awesome view down a grand hill with amazing architecture. Glasgow is perched on a hill and you can see down the hill if you look at the second picture below.

At the top of the hill, we stood in front of The Glasgow Royal Opera Hall. We didn’t go in, but the website looks amazing.

We had a ramen lunch and then headed to the Gallery of Modern Art. I had slept for about four hours the night before and was doing fine, except for maybe being a bit tired.

I plan to come back to this and write more about the history of Glasgow, the museum, and other points of connection, but for now I’m going to stitch up this segment and move to another chapter. Duke of Wellington statue, for example.

So…once our day in Glasgow was complete, we got back in the Juke and headed northwest. Little did we know we were headed toward some very difficult driving west of Loch Lomond.
