Algonquin was beautiful!
I was initially wary–under the impression that it would be crowded on the highway at the height of the summer season. But it was not. There were hardly any cars at all on the Frank MacDougall Parkway (Highway 60) as we traveled east from Hunstville toward Ottawa.

Along the way, we stopped at the Algonquin Art Centre, where we saw paintings by all kinds of artists, including Tom Thomson, along with a flagstone walking tour related to Thomson.

It was easy to see how Thomson was inspired to paint such works as The Jack Pine and The West Wind. The imagery is everywhere.
